The Bottom Line: The Car You Can Start With Your Butt

There is a novel new anti-theft system for your car and it uses the shape of your bottom to deter thieves. Engineers in Tokyo from the Advanced Institute of Industrial Technology are developing a system that uses biometrics to identify the unique shape of your posterior. This allows the vehicle to recognize you as the legitimate owner of the car. If the system does not recognize you, the vehicle will not go anywhere.

After purchasing a home using homeowner loans people are often interested in keeping their car safe in their driveway. This anti-theft system is sure to keep many thieves at bay since the car cannot be coerced into going anywhere without the owner.

Sensors That Recognize Your Bottom

The technology uses 360 sensors to measure pressure when you sit down. This pressure is measured on a scale from 0 to 256. Each of the readings is used to create a 3-D image of your rear. In essence, the sensors are creating a topographical map of your bottom. When someone sits down behind the wheel of the vehicle, their bottom is analyzed with the data previously created. If the bottom sitting in the seat does not match the recorded data, the car is disabled from going anywhere.

So far, the device has been able to identify six different testers with an accuracy of 98 percent. The research report of this is in Japanese, so it is not immediately clear how the system would react to someone packing on extra weight during the holidays or carrying a wallet in the back pocket.

Expected To Be On The Market In Two To Three Years

The researchers of this device are hoping to make this new anti-theft system commercially available by collaborating with automakers. They hope to get the system off the ground within the next two to three years. There may need to be more research on this to see how reliable the system is, as it appears that only six people were tested during the research phase. It is definitely a novel approach to the ever-growing list of theft-prevention devices now being deployed on the market.

It is not clear at the moment how you are required to sit down to program your posterior proportions into the system, to be recognized. There may be instances when the owner of the vehicle wishes to allow someone else to drive the vehicle and the sensory programming will need to be changed.

If this can be done in an easy manner, this new anti-theft system sounds very promising. Homeowners who used homeowner loans to purchase their property are sure to be delighted with this extra protection for their vehicle. Homeowner loans are a great way to purchase the perfect home and complement any protection you have in place for your vehicle.
